چکیده
Purpose: To investigate the incidence of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and carry out molecular characterization in selected nasal isolates from healthy students Abraka, Nigeria. Methods: Three hundred (300) samples were obtained apparently 150 female male cultured suitable media for identification. The MRSA detected by means oxacillin antibiotic sensitivity disk. Antibiotics susceptibility pattern was carried accordance with guidelines Clinical Laboratory Standard Institute. Tests to determine presence penicillin binding protein2a (PBP2a). Molecular twenty (20) representatives done establish existence mecA genes among isolates. Results: colonization amongst community 68 (22.7 %). was: amoxicillin, 40 (58.8 %); amoxicillin/clavulanate, 15 (22.1 chloramphenicol, ciprofloxacin, 19 (27.9 co-trimoxazole, 9 (13.2 gentamicin, ofloxacin, 8 (11.1 streptomycin, 30 (44.1 All subjected possessed (PBP2a) while only one gene. Conclusion: is present individuals Delta State. It also possible not detect gene even when present. Since most are multi-drug resistant, there a tendency clinical therapy failure this area.

Molecular Characteristics of Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) Isolated from Diabetic Foot Infection
Background & Objective: Diabetic foot ulcer (DFU), is one of the most frequent causes for hospitalizations in patients with diabetes. A major problem in the treatment of DFU is the increased-incidence of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). The aim of this study was to determine the SCCmec types of MRSA isolates and their epidemiology among pati...

Background and Aims: The aim of present study was to investigate the molecular characteristic of Staphylococcus aureus to detect mec A gene and to type SCCmec in strain isolated from healthy worker at Larestan Hospital. Material and Methods: This study was carried out from the 250 nasal swab healthy worker at Larestan hospital. Multiplex polymerase chain reaction for mecA gene was perf...
متن کاملcharacterization of methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus (mrsa) phages from sewage at a tertiary pediatric hospital
results electron microscopy showed mrsa phages’ resemblance to members of the family siphoviridae, serogroups a and f. they exhibited a latent period of 70 minutes and a relatively burst size of 2,400 plaque-forming units (pfu)/infected cell. the titer of the phages was determined to be 3 × 109 pfu/ml using the by dla technique. conclusions in this study, two phages from the family siphoviridae...
متن کاملEpidemiology and molecular characterization of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus nasal carriage isolates from bovines
BACKGROUND Staphylococcus aureus is a common bacterium usually found on skin and mucous membranes of warm blooded animals. Resistance in S. aureus has been increasingly reported though depending on the clonal lineage. Indeed, while hospital acquired (HA)-methicillin resistant S. aureus (MRSA) are typically multi-resistant, community associated (CA)-MRSA are by large more susceptible to many ant...
متن کاملMolecular characterization of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus isolates in Korea.
We used several molecular typing methods to analyze 196 methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and 139 methicillin-susceptible S. aureus (MSSA) isolates collected between 1996 and 2005. The sequence type 72 MRSA has increased in frequency in the community in the Republic of Korea and in hospitals in recent years.
